In 1994 Newt Gingerich led a revolution with the Contract with America and swept the GOP into the House majority for the first time in 40 years. For the first eight years they had great success in pushing though their agenda even with a Democrat President. They accomplished welfare reform which has showed positive results, cut taxes and many other things the American people demanded. But somewhere along the way they lost their spine and became ineffective and were swept out again in 2006. Ironically most of them lost to Democrats running as conservatives who promised to cut spending, end corruption and protect our borders and too many people believed them. The Dems that ran as conservatives have shown they are not conservatives and spent with abandon and accomplished nothing.

As we have seen here in Arizona in 2006 (D) Harry Mitchell defeated (R) J.D. Hayworth in a hotly contested race, Mitchell ran as a Conservative promising to cut spending and secure our borders two big issues here and he lied to us, he has done exactly the opposite, the same as our Governor who promised to cut spending - lied, close borders - lied, fix Child Protective Services another lie, she has made no attempt to do this, in fact she used line item veto to strike cuts in the budget and increase it, has stood in the way of our new immigration laws passed overwhelmingly by the people and CPS is a disaster. These two just like many others across the country ran as conservatives and were nothing of the sort. The people were fooled again, shame on us, now we must not let it happen again.

The GOP has to find it's spine again, put some strong, forceful and determined leaders in place and develop a new Contract with America and have all of them and new contenders for seats around the country sign the pact and stand on strong conservative issues. They should be doing this themselves not hearing about this idea from talk radio and the people but I guess we will have to make ourselves heard again as it does work. The amnesty bill was killed because the people spoke up and made themselves heard. Congress under the Democrats has one of the lowest approval ratings ever and their party seems to be in disarray and not sure where to go. The GOP has a great opportunity here and must take advantage of it with a solid issue oriented platform and get out and promote it.

*********************Contract with America II***********

1. Secure the borders and reform the immigration policies to fit today's needs.

2. Ensure affordable and plentiful energy by drilling in the large oil fields in our own country, building new refineries, coal to oil plants and nuclear plants while developing new technologies. We could be in great shape in six to eight years with our own oil, coal and natural gas deposits.

3. Tax reform implement flat, fair or hybrid tax, open free-trade barriers and loosen the many cumbersome and unnecessary regulation only designed to slow business. Make investment and innovation something desirable in this country.

4. Reform our failing educational system by wrestling it away from the unions. Lift government madates giving control back to local governments. Make public schools provide quality education with vouchers and competition and reward good teachers who are willing to go into poor areas with extra pay.

5. Reform Social Security and Medicare so it will be affordable and solvent for future generations. Savings accounts will work and should be passed on.

6. End Earmarks, cut spending, balance the budget and reduce the size of government. This can be done by eliminating many duplicate agencies and positions. Many Baby Boomers will be retiring soon, don't replace them with new hires and eliminate the positions. End wasteful spending by rewarding agencies that spend responsibly and show they can save without hurting service.

7. Ensure that we will win in Iraq and the war on terror, and improve the VA system and ensure our vets are well taken care of. Expand, equip and modify our military to meet all potential threats.

8. Improve the health care system by reforming liability lawsuits, implementing new technologies and connecting patients to doctors again and reforming insurance laws so companies can compete nationwide.

9. Do massive research on climate change before implementing rash programs that will greatly harm our economy and accomplish very little.  The Science should be investigated and the sponsors and proponents forcing green issues should be exposed as they only promote Socialist ideas as solutions.

10. Push for dramatic U.N. reforms ending massive wasteful spending and corruption while they accomplish nothing accept scolding the U.S. and Israel. Push for the money to help build power plants, water treatment facilities, eradicate disease and improve education in poor countries enabling then to be prosperous. The things the U.N should be doing.

11.  Appoint Federalist Judges to all benches nationwide.  Strict constructionists that will uphold the Constitution not abuse it.

12 Reduce government regulations giving control back to state and local level so areas can adjust to changing circumstances that may be locally isolated.


If the Gop gets strong leaders and actively promotes this agenda with a positive and uplifting message to oppose the Dems doom and gloom and stick to it, they can get real government reform done and help the American people become confident in their government to do the right things when needed and promise to stay out of the way when it is not needed, the markets and the innovation, creativity and pride of the American people will once again lead the world into a prosperous future by example. And if the world still acts envious, jealous and spiteful we will leave them behind again until they wake up.
