Now that John McCain is the inevitable GOP choice what do those of us who believe in Conservatism/Federalism do. It's a tough choice as we are once again asked to set aside our priciples and support a lesser candidate, this is getting really old. In '94 conservatives were swept in by the country but 10 years later they had forgotten what got them there and abandoned conservatism again and in '06 they were swept out by dems who ran as guess what, conservatives. I knew better, that the dems were pulling their usual tactics of tell them what they want to hear and then do what they want. Again the GOP did not learn their lesson and now the GOP establishment is wondering why the base is up in arms. There are two factions in the GOP, the Conservative/Federalists vs. the Elite insider establishment Republicans.
What the establishment is afraid of is that the disgruntled conservatives will sit this one out, and they know they can't win without us. So they tell us to calm down and grow up, as they continue to blather on about the good of the party. The reality is the establishment GOP'ers appear to be just as fond of big government as the Democrats and also carry the Elitist attitude that the snooty liberals do, getting all up in arms over the ruckus the conservatives are making. The difference is the Conservatives and Federalists base our strong beliefs on Federalist principles established by the founding fathers first and the establishment believe in the Republican party first over their beliefs.
Those are the differences now for the dilemma, what does the Conservative/Federalist movements do. I list them this way as I believe there are some minor differences between conservative and federalist but nothing significant. The primary difference being Conservatives are more willing to amend the Constitution and use the Federal government and Federalists want to leave it up to the individual states to decide. Pardon my wandering, again for the dilemma. If we sit this one out Clinton or Obama may get in with a bigger majority in the house and senate and the damage they could do in a short period of time will be catastrophic and possibly irreversable. We know they plan to raise taxes, expand the government and increase their power over the American people, but they also plan to make sure they never EVER lose power again. They will do this thorough the Fairness Doctrine, activist judges who do what they are told and undoubtedly try redistricting, brainwashing in the educational system and using the media and entertainment industries.
Our choices are hold our nose again and vote for McCain who will be bad for the country on economics and freedom through the guise of saving the planet. Most of this can be reversable and fixed in short order. Or we can sit this one out and deal with the dems. My humble solution is to support McCain and keep the dems out. But McCain will have 4 years, if he continues his current pace on immigration and global warming beliefs we will have his replacement ready to go. We should start immediatly start preparing for 2012 by recruiting people such as George Allen, J.C. Watts, Michael Steele, J.D. Hayworth, Jeff Sessions and Condi Rice and re-establish Duncan Hunter. We have many to choose from but fundraising and early exposure should start immediatly to be ready to take on the establishment in 2010 and let them know this time we will be prepared to take them on or leave them behind. Hopefully then we can tell them to hold thier nose and suck it up for the good of the party.
Just my humble observation and a few ideas for dealing with the cards we Conservative/Federalists have been dealt and moving on in the future. Our best chance is for early preparation and using the internet and U.S. mail system with old fashioned letter writing and word of mouth. Any other ideas are welcome as I think this should be used as a motivating factor for Conservatives/Federalist to rally together and make oursevles not just heard but and overwhelming force.
