McBush's economic confusion

From a letter I published in a local newspaper a short while back,

McCain supports making the Bush tax cuts on the rich permanent, despite the fact that they have done nothing but waste over a trillion dollars to date and widen the economic fault lines that divide this country. Since Bush cut taxes, growth rates for jobs, consumption and income have remained well below the average for business cycles between 1945 and 2000. Meanwhile, the top 1 percent earned almost twice the share of after-tax income in 2005 than they did in 1979.

McCain wants to increase military spending. How he plans to pay for a larger military while wasting hundreds of billions each year on ineffective tax cuts for top earners is not mentioned on his Web site. He seems intent on continuing the Bush administration's fiscal approach, i.e. lower taxes and more spending.
