First off, you should not vote for a candidate becuase their personal finances (nor should you vote for them becuase you like their presonality or can "relate" to them); you should vote for the candidate with the right policies you will steer the country in the right direction. Remeber you are voting for who you want as president not as friend. That said, I find it interesting (simply interesting) that Joe Biden is relatively poor. He is not even among the top 1% of earners. Last year the Biden's (Joe and Jill) made $320,000. Joe made $161,000 in wages as Senator and $71,000 in royalties from his book. Jill made $67,000 from teaching English at a community college. Their combined assets don't even add up to $400,000! These figures do of course have relevance in our contemporary political discourse. Unfortunately people seem to take things other than policies into account, such as who they can relate to. Otherwise, the entire Obama as liberal elitist stick wouldn't work (btw the GOP has played this trick on every Democrat for over a decade). Biden, however, can actually claim not to be among the top 1% of earners (as opposed to the super-rich McCain and his former GOP rival, even richer, Mit Romney).
